Announcing Paperclip Chat

In the past few months, thousands of researchers have poured millions of queries (and processed billions of tokens) through Paperclip, our command-line interface for scientific literature. Paperclip works natively with any coding harness, such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. At the same time, not all scientists use terminal-based harnesses, and the terminal is not always the ideal user interface for literature search.

Today, we're releasing Paperclip Chat with a simple goal — to give users an instant way to use Paperclip without local setup. Paperclip Chat is free to use. This browser implementation provides a first-class experience and includes every feature available through the command-line interface. There are also several additional benefits of being able to use a web browser:

Native citation access

Citations are natively accessible through the chat window: click on the citation and get the exact snippet of text on the right panel.

Repository visualization

Repos can be easily visualized and understood as a graph in the bottom-left panel. Click through each branch for details and observability.

Upload your own PDFs

Include your own PDFs through the attachments icon. Any documents uploaded are stored as a virtual filesystem for easy integration with the rest of Paperclip.
